Dror Israel Sends Israel’s First Solidarity Delegation to New York

Updated: Jun 17, 2020

Solidarity delegation to be first representatives from Israel to fly to US as an expression of solidarity with the Jewish communities of America suffering under Covid-19

On Monday, June 15, Dror Israel will send Israel’s first representative mission to America as a direct sign of solidarity and support for the Jewish communities of America, who are suffering so immensely under the strain of Covid-19.

“For thousands of years the Jewish people has been guided by the Talmudic phrase: ‘All of Israel are responsible for one another.’ This is what led us to decide to cross the ocean at this uncertain time and show our support for our Jewish brothers and sisters in America,” said Gary Levy, a member of the delegation to depart on Monday. “The Jewish communities of America have stood by Israel through all its darkest hours. We are here to do the same at this hour of darkness and crisis for the Jews of America.”

The aim of the mission is to meet with partners, Jewish officials, lay leaders and community members to express support on behalf of Dror Israel and Israeli society as a whole, as well as to explore ways in which Dror Israel can actively aid and assist the Jewish communities in their work battling the impact of the crisis. “Our mission is very simple. We are here to say to the Jews of America, to our partners, to the leaders of the institutions and the everyday people fighting so hard against this virus and its impact – we stand with you,” Levy concluded.

The delegation will arrive in New York on Tuesday, June 15 and return to Israel on Saturday, June 19 and are hoping to meet with as many representatives of the Jewish communities in the region as possible.
