'Groups Create Neighborhoods' program holds first national conference!

Dror Israel’s community organizing initiative held its first national conference with 100 activists and volunteers from all over the country – Sderot, Beer Sheva, Rishon Letzion, Rehovot, Beit Shemesh, and Haifa! These neighborhood volunteers, facilitated by members of local Dror Israel Educators’ Kibbutzim, organize community groups of various kinds – women’s groups, parents’ groups, neighborhood leadership committees, etc. – which analyze local issues, share their strengths, and together find solutions and develop projects to address unmet needs and impact their communities in these challenging neighborhoods.

Community organizers had a chance to show off their various initiatives

At the conference, held in Tel Aviv on March 17, the participants got to know the various projects and initiatives in the different cities, workshops to explore new tools for action, a musical performance, and a ceremony recognizing especially impressive projects.

The conference inspired the activists and enabled fruitful collaboration.

The beauty of this program is that it emphasizes community members’ shared dreams for the future, and that everyone has the capacity to impact their surroundings and make a difference, especially when working together.

Thanks to all of our partners: The Municipalities of Sderot, Beer Sheva, Haifa, and Rishon Letzion, the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security, The Community Safety Authority, Sderot Resilience Center, Shahaff Foundation, Rashi Foundation, Neimark Foundation, Kibbutzim College
