A Summer of Learning and Fun: Eshbal Boarding School's Impactful Camp for at-risk Students

This summer, instead of relaxing during their well-earned break, committed educators at Dror Israel's Eshbal Boarding School for at-risk youth chose to make a difference in the lives of their students by creating a unique summer camp. Understanding the potential dangers of a summer filled with boredom for at-risk youth, the educators decided to offer a structured program that would allow the students to explore new activities, challenge themselves, and bond as a community.

Summer fun with the Eshbal Boarding School!

With a focus on experiential learning, the camp offered a diverse range of activities for the students to engage in. Guided by experienced instructors, the students took on exciting projects, like upgrading the school's stable and creating a relaxing shaded area to watch the horses during the year. This hands-on approach empowered the students to acquire new skills and apply their knowledge, fostering a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.

During the summer, students continue to care for the horses in the school's therapeutic stables.

Throughout the camp, the students were also provided with opportunities to learn new skills, including various musical instruments and horseback riding, from talented instructors. These activities, which can be difficult to pursue during the busy school year, became accessible and enriching experiences during the summer camp.

Exploring the beauty of our country, the students embarked on day trips to various attractions, including swimming in the Sea of Galilee and kayaking on the Jordan River. Each evening brought a fun activity, where they explored different cultures, traditions, and foods from around the world.

Students relished the chance to cool of during the summer heat.

Thanks to the summer camp, Eshbal's students were able to spend their vacation in a safe and nurturing environment, fostering learning, friendship, and personal growth. Bryce Kenny, an educator at the boarding school, shared, "This summer provided our students with a chance to deepen their connections with friends in new and different ways, creating unforgettable memories and experiences together."

At Dror Israel, we work to empower at-risk youth, providing them with opportunities to thrive and discover their full potential. The success of our summer camp demonstrates the transformative impact of engaging and supportive educational programs. It is all made possible by the generous support and dedication of our donors and supporters, who continue to help us make a positive difference in the lives of these remarkable young individuals.
